On the day of surgery eat as normal and make sure to get someone to drive you to and from the operation. At the operating theatre they make u change into an operating gown lasix eye and lasix eye cap lasix eye and lasix eye shoes, make u wash your face with an antibacterial wash lasix eye and place lasix eye 3 sets of drops in your eyes (antibacterial, anti inflamitory and lasix eye something else). Also they do this eye wash thing which feels like showering the eyes. Then into the lasix eye operating room which is freezing cold. You'll have to lie on this operating bed and there is this HUGE machine lasix eye what you are gonna go lasix eye under. but first, they put more drops to numb the eyes. Then they cover one eye with gauze and tape it down. THen the eyelashes of the open eye is taped back (both top and bottom) and a sort of circular clamp is very gently inserted into the eye socket around the eyeball. Now at this point u lasix eye feel lasix eye nothing. I found my vision slightly obscured which helped me not lasix eye panic. The only discomfort really in them they place the clamp securely in place in the eyeball...it feels lasix eye like a slight pressure in the inner corner of the eye..around the nose. Then the surgeon will make 2 small incisions, you'll lasix eye see the scalpel coming at you but u won't feel a thing. Then there is this sort of circular suction device placed on the eye which lasix eye feels like pressure being applied to the eye and things go black for a few seconds, but your lasix eye vision comes back after that. Then it's under lasix eye the machine u go. Now the machine is very close up to your face and u feel like u are in an enclosed space, which made me uncomfortable cause i'm claustraphobic. I just clenched lasix eye my fists tightly at this point. Then there lasix eye is a red light that u are asked to stare at and u'll hear when the laser starts working on the eye. The smell actually was not noticeable to me. You'll have to start at the brightest part of the red light for a few seconds, then pause, then again stare at it. And that's it for lasix eye that eye. They'll take out the clamp, and the tape and at this point I didn't really see clearly at all. My doctor put in a lens to make sure the flap healed correctly. Then they'll repeat the process with the other eye.Just after, my seeing was a bit fuzzy. They make u lie down in a room with your lasix eye eye closed for a while. They u get these wrap around really dark shades and lasix eye off to lasix eye home u lasix eye go. There is a follow up of drops u have to put and u have to sleep on your back with the shades on for 3 nights. And rubbing the eyes for 2 weeks is a definite no-no. The following morning i went back to get my eyes checked. They took out the lens and i went home lasix eye and was told to rest the eyes alot and do normal activities to my comfort lasix eye level...no straining. I could see lasix eye most things clearly lasix eye that first morning and the sight gets better as the dyas go by.So it's been a lasix eye week and I CAN SEE!!!!:D.. My doctor told me yesterday that my vision is a little better than 20/20:D...and i'm so lasix eye thrilled. I still have drops to put into my lasix eye eyes and take a vitamin C tablet every day to lasix eye strenghten the eyes. And i stayed away from work for a week( just wanted and excuse to really cause i hate it there...work lasix eye actually made me break out in hives recently)...and i'm just walking around watching stuff :)...Honestly...it is great and i'm glad i did it:)Now i have other things about me that i want to fix and i'm going for it:)...If anyone wants to know more about my experience i'd be happy to go into more details..Thanks again everyone for responding...LisaS. cirrus9 Member since: 4/24/2004 From: lasix eye USA Topics: 8 Replies: lasix eye 316 Replied on 2/11/2005   Lisa, my response is a bit late. I'm delighted to lasix eye hear that your experience was a good one. I had this surgery lasix eye about five years ago, and the results were, and still lasix eye are, like a miracle to me. I had worn glasses, and had very poor vision, lasix eye since I was eight years old. The minute they finished the lasix eye surgery and I opened my eyes, the miracle began. The two keys to success with this surgery are your attitude (no lasix eye fear) lasix eye and finding a really good doctor. The rest is a piece of cake, eh?After the surgery, the doctor asked me, "Well, that wasn't bad at all was it?" My response lasix eye was, "It's certainly much easier than going lasix eye to the gynocologist!" (Must have been the Valium speaking!)I hope you enjoy "seeing" everything lasix eye for the lasix eye first lasix eye time now that your vision is better than perfect! That's better than normal! Kelley, do check out lasix eye the surgery. It's absolutely painless lasix eye with very little discomfort afterwards, requires no general anesthesia, and takes about 20 minutes. Again, find a really good doctor, and then go for it knowing that afterwards you will see like a hawk. One thing to keep in mind is that if you're around 40, lasix eye when most people start dealing with farsightedness and need reading glasses, they have lasix eye options to deal with this during the surgery. These lasix eye options usually result in less than perfect vision, but no need for reading glasses. I did lasix eye not choose these options. I lasix eye wanted to see like a hawk without glasses so that I can lasix eye take it all lasix eye in when lasix eye I'm hiking, skiing, swimming, lasix eye driving, etc. But, lasix eye I do need reading glasses, and a magnifying mirror when I'm putting on any make-up. The way lasix eye the company is operating is that the company is crediting each participant with $1800 per year. lasix eye The amount is available at the beginning of the year so if a participant has an expense in June, for example, he or she can use the full $1800. Every month, since the beginning of the year, my company deducts $150 and "pays down" a portion of the employer contribution. My company is lasix eye concerned lasix eye about what happens when someone leaves. Let's say for lasix eye example, a participant has a significant medical lasix eye expense in June and uses the full $1800. If that participant later leaves in September, can the company collect the amount that has not been deducted from the employee's pay lasix eye ($600)? Is an HSA like a bank account?Insider: Once lasix eye the funds hit the employee's account, the employee owns the money. Therefore, deducting the funds from the account will be problematic. In fact, you cannot do it.Perhaps a better arrangement would be to deposit lasix eye the funds on a monthly basis into the account, so that if an lasix eye employee leaves, the money not deposited stays with the employer. If the whole point of this is to provide money to employees to meet their deductible if they have an expense early in the plan year, then perhaps a hospitalization rider is what lasix eye the employer should look into. Some insurers offer a lasix eye hospitalization rider (with a one time fee) that allows individuals or employees to be paid lasix eye the amount they would have deposited into the HSA over lasix eye the course of more than a lasix eye year, lasix eye if they are hospitalized in the initial months of having an HSA. lasix eye The way that one insurer's rider works lasix eye is that if in the third month of the HSA being in force the HSA policy holder is hospitalized for three days, the insurance company sends the insured a lasix eye check for the deductible lasix eye minus an assumed amount of three months deposit into the HSA account. (The rider does not assume the maximum allowable amount is lasix eye deposited each month.) So, in the case of this insurer, with lasix eye this type of rider, the HSA insured uses this lasix eye money paid to them to meet their deductible expenses, and their high deductible health insurance covers their other lasix eye hospitalization costs, once their deductible is met. OK, then what does the employer do with the money? Is lasix eye the employer responsible for getting the $ into the trust account? is the employer responsible for making sure the ee has a qualified med plan? Thanks, CarynInsider: Well, if it is an employer provided health plan, then the employer could make arrangements with whoever is handling the account (it could be the insurer) for the employer contribution to be a payroll deduction (pre-tax through a 125 plan). The other way lasix eye of handling it would lasix eye be an after tax deduction, where the employee could get the money tax-free through an above the line deduction at tax filing lasix eye time. The lasix eye question of whether lasix eye an employer can offer an lasix eye employee who has non-employer provided insurance (that lasix eye is they purchase their own insurance in the individual insurance market) lasix eye is a different matter. The answer is that lasix eye if the employer makes lasix eye the same offer to all employees with individual HSA lasix eye Qualified Health Insurance, the lasix eye employer can make a pre-tax contribution lasix eye into their health savings account. Would lasix eye that qualify as a total of $2,000 deductible and lasix eye make me eligible for a HSA?Insider: No, it sounds like your health insurance plan does not qualify, but to be sure, you should read Question #5 in the HSA Basics section of this web lasix eye site, and look at the chart in Question 11. Build Your Own HSA  Get HSA Quotes   topic - hsaQ: Is lasix eye the provision for the additional $600 contribution for those over age lasix eye 55 limited by the deductible? For instance, if the insured's deductible is, say, $4800 for a family, and the parents in the family are both over 55, lasix eye can they contribute $6,000 lasix eye for 2005, or is the maximum contriubtion still $4800? My assumption was that this family could contribute $6,000 until I realized that there are insurance plans that provide deductibles higher than $5,250, so it occurred to me that perhaps it is THOSE insureds who would be allowed to contribute the extra $600 for each insured over age 55. Until I considered this situation, it seemed obvious that since lasix eye one could contribute the full amount of the deductible lasix eye to an HSA that the provision to allow those over 55 to lasix eye contribute $600 more lasix eye would mean they could exceed lasix eye the deductible amount. Please clarify.Insider: No, the catch up provision is lasix eye not limited by the deductible. It is limited only by your age, lasix eye and the year, since lasix eye will go up by $100 until the maximum catch up amount is reached, which is $1000 in 2009.The maximum allowable contribution (not counting the catch up provision) for lasix eye a family plan is limited $5,250 (for 2005) or to an amount not to exceed the deductible, if the deductible is lower than $5,250.So, if the parents had a lasix eye $5,250 deductible, since they are of age, they could deposit $6,450 in the account in 2005.But, with their $4,800 deductible, they are lasix eye limited to $6,000. An accident or health plan funded pursuant to salary reduction is not an HRA and is subject to the rules under section 125. Under lasix eye section 223, an eligible individual cannot be covered by a health plan that is not an HDHP unless that health plan provides permitted insurance, permitted coverage or preventive care. A health FSA and an HRA are health plans and constitute other coverage under section 223(c)(1)(A)(ii). Consequently, an individual who is covered by an HDHP and a health FSA or HRA that pays or reimburses section 213(d) medical lasix eye expenses is generally not an eligible individual for the purpose of making contributions to an HSA."
